10. How do I get paid?

11. Where are online casinos actually located?

12. Do I have a gambling problem?

8. Do I have to download software to play at an online casino?

Not necessarily. Most casinos offer ?flash? or no-download games. The only reason why casinos let you download their software is for better graphics, sound and animation.

9. How do I start playing?

Be certain to read the beginners gaming guide section for tips and details before placing a bet! In all cases, you will have to open a real player account at the casino site before you can place a real money bet. This will mean sending money via an Internet cash account, Western Union, Moneygram, cashiers check, money order, wire transfer, credit card, etc. For detailed reviews of payment options, click here.
All casinos operate on an account system - you send them money and your account is credited for that amount. As you gamble, money is credited or debited as you win or lose. When you wish to withdraw money from your casino account (you don't have to, you can leave it in for future gambling) you can do so in nearly all of the ways that deposits are made. Most casinos offer players an online, detailed transaction history.

10. How do I get Paid?

Casinos usually credit winnings back to a player in much the same way the funds were deposited. Always check the casino?s information section to find out the terms and conditions. The best way to play is to open an account with an Internet cash merchant such as Firepay, NETeller or Prepaid ATM. Winnings are quickly and easily credited back to your account. In the event that you win more than your deposit, some casinos will credit the maximum amount back to your car and send you a cheque for the difference. Many casinos and software developers use a secure third party to manage your funds. To combat fraud, some casinos request documentation from players before cashing out large winnings or issuing a cheque.
If you have any questions, or encounter a problem, click on the ?contact? or ?help? section for tips and strategies. 24 hour toll free customer support is offered by all the leading casinos via e-mail, phone or fax.

11. Where are online casinos actually located?

Casino operations are hosted from dedicated servers located in one of several jurisdictions that issue Internet gaming licenses. Such businesses are not only sanctioned by the governing bodies, but also closely regulated. These places include: the Caribbean (namely the islands of Antigua, Barbuda, and St. Kitts), Costa Rica, The Netherlands Antilles, Montenegro, Australia, England's Isle of Man, and in North America at the Kahnawake Mohawk Indian Territory just outside of Montreal, Quebec.

12. Do I have a gambling problem?

Some people suffer from an uncontrollable desire to gamble; they simply cannot stop playing. This illness is called addictive gambling or compulsive gambling. It is often difficult for people to realize that they have lost control. If you have problems in connection with this, be sure to get help. Various clinics that help people suffering from addictive behaviors can be found all over the country. At these clinics, professionals try to guide gambling maniacs back to a normal life by teaching them how to control their desire for gambling.
Most compulsive gamblers will answer yes to at least seven of the following questions.

? Have you ever lost time from work or school due to gambling?
? Has gambling ever made your home life unhappy?
? Has gambling affected your reputation?
? Have you ever felt remorse after gambling?
? Have you ever gambled to get money to pay debts or otherwise solve financial difficulties?
? Has gambling caused a decrease in your ambition or efficiency?
? After losing, have you felt you must return as soon as possible to win back your losses?
? After a win, have you felt a strong urge to return and win more?
? Have you often gambled until your last dollar was gone?
? Have you ever borrowed money to finance your gambling?
? Have you ever sold anything to finance gambling?
? Are you reluctant to use "gambling money" for normal expenditures?
? Has gambling made you careless of the welfare of yourself or your family?
? Have you ever gambled longer than you had planned?
? Have you ever gambled to escape worry or trouble?
? Have you ever committed, or considered committing, an illegal act to finance gambling?
? Has gambling caused you to have difficulty sleeping?
? Do arguments, disappointments or frustrations create within you an urge to gamble?
? Have you ever had an urge to celebrate any good fortune by a few hours of gambling?
? Have you ever considered self destruction or suicide as a result of your gambling?

If in doubt, you should contact www.gamblersanonymous.org.

MGM Mirage to expand into cyberspace

MGM Mirage, an American casino colossus, aspires to conquer gambling cyberspace and circumvent U.S. gambling laws with a British-based online casino.

In Nevada, a well-known gambling mecca, Internet gambling is illegal. State lawmakers there want to overturn a law that prohibits gambling across state lines.

As some U.S. states completely disallow gambling, current law prevents out-of-state gamblers from calling bets into Las Vegas or betting online.

Although laws do not ban Nevada casinos from starting foreign-based Internet gaming sites, legal action could result if players are found to be either children or U.S. residents from non-gambling states.

To placate American officials, MGM Mirage has assured authorities bets from U.S. citizens and children will not be accepted. However, it is unclear exactly how MGM Mirage management plans to enforce this promise.

Ten other companies are competing with MGM Mirage for an online gambling licence from the Isle of Man, UK.
